Introduction

EZ-Translate is a WordPress plugin designed to simplify and automate the translation of your website content. It leverages the power of artificial intelligence, through the Google Gemini API, to deliver high-quality translations efficiently.

In addition to translation, EZ-Translate solves key issues in managing multilingual sites, such as optimizing SEO for each language and generating specific sitemaps, ensuring that your content is not only accessible but also visible in search engines globally.

Installation and Configuration

Plugin Installation

1. Download the .zip file of the EZ-Translate plugin.

2. In your WordPress admin panel, go to Plugins > Add New.

3. Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page.

4. Select the .zip file you downloaded and click Install Now.

5. Once installed, click Activate Plugin.

Initial Configuration (Gemini API Settings)

For the AI translation features to work, you need to configure your Google Gemini API key.

1. After activating the plugin, go to EZ-Translate > Settings in the admin menu.

2. Locate the “Gemini API Key” field.

3. Paste your API key into the corresponding field.

4. Click Save Changes. The plugin is now ready to translate content.

Content Translation

Using the Gutenberg Sidebar for Translation

The easiest way to translate your posts and pages is directly from the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg).

1. Open a post or page you want to translate.

2. In the right sidebar, find the EZ-Translate panel.

3. Select the target language from the dropdown menu.

4. Click the “Translate with AI” button.

5. The plugin will send the content to the Gemini API and automatically fill in the translation. You can view and edit the translated content before saving.

Managing Existing Translations

You can manage all translations from the EZ-Translate panel. Here you can see which content has been translated, into which languages, and make bulk edits if necessary.

Multilingual SEO Management

Editing SEO Metadata by Language

Good multilingual SEO requires unique metadata for each language. EZ-Translate allows you to manage this easily.

1. In the editor of a post or page, within the EZ-Translate panel, you will see fields for the SEO Title and SEO Description.

2. After translating the content, you can fill in these fields with the optimized metadata for the target language.

Using the AI SEO Assistant

If you are unsure what metadata to use, the AI assistant can help you.

1. With the content already translated, click the “Generate SEO with AI” button.

2. The AI will analyze the text and suggest an optimized SEO title and description, which you can adjust and save.

Multilingual Sitemaps

EZ-Translate automatically generates sitemaps that comply with search engine guidelines for multilingual sites. This includes the hreflang tags needed to indicate the language versions of your pages.

To manage sitemaps, go to EZ-Translate > Sitemaps. From here you can:

  • View the URL of your main sitemap.
  • Force the regeneration of the sitemap after major changes.
  • Exclude certain types of content from the sitemap.

Additional Tools

Redirection Management

The plugin can automatically detect the visitor’s browser language and redirect them to the correct language version of the page, if it exists. You can manage redirection rules and view a log of redirections in EZ-Translate > Redirections.

Backups

For added security, EZ-Translate includes a backup tool. In EZ-Translate > Tools > Backups, you can create and restore backups of all translations and plugin settings.
